My father always told me that a hard day’s work was the only way to make something of yourself. Growing up, I watched my dad as he worked tirelessly cleaning out air ducts, he would come home covered in fireplace soot. He started dragging me with him every weekend and all summer long when I was just five or six years old. ( I have over 25 years of legal work experience it probably closer to 40).
The job wasn't glamorous, but it taught me an invaluable lesson about working hard for what you want in life. We would often talk while we worked; my dad discussing the importance of dedication and commitment while imparting lessons on how to treat people with respect and kindness.
Little did either of us know at the time that those talks were preparing me for a future where I would continue this tradition with my own daughter. She has been helping us clean air ducts since she was 13 years old! The same values of hard work have been instilled in her as they were once instilled in me—a legacy passed down through generations like a family heirloom.
It's so satisfying to see her growing into an intelligent young woman who is not afraid of getting her hands dirty if need be—just like any good worker should be! As long as there are air ducts needing cleaning out there (which seems like it will always be true!), our family business shall provide honest work that supports our community for another 25 years or more!
